Are we having a meeting?

unnamed-2

I walked in the back door and saw two walkers, two scooters and one wheelchair.  I started laughing, Duane looked up and asked what was so funny.  I said, “Its looks like your having a meeting of some sort or that you are in gang”.  He looked at his parking lot and started laughing.

Unfortunately, this is only a small fraction of all the equipment we have.  We are lucky though, lucky that we have access to it and are able to afford what we need to have a great life. We are lucky we can laugh.

Taking A Deep Breath

Dunstone2015_0678

Today we are taking a deep breath.  We are sleeping and resting and just being.  We will be making some adjustments in Duane’s medication which will hopefully help his pain level and energy.

Thank you for all the good vibes yesterday – traveling through the airport couldn’t have been easier.  We even had some excitement on the flight when a lady passed out right in front of us – good thing Duane was in the front row to help the flight attendants try to figure out what was wrong with her until we landed and they could get EMTS there.

Wish Us Luck

unnamed-3

Please send us all your good vibes.

Tomorrow morning we will be leaving the house at 2:30am.  We will be driving two and a half hours to Las Vegas to take a flight to San Francisco to go see Duane’s neurologist.

We will be flying for the first time…the first time with a wheel chair, the first time with a scooter, the first time with a urinal.  Wish us luck that we are able to get through security without me having to take his shoes off, without him having to stand up and without him having to walk.  Wish us luck that we are able to pre board without any hassle.  Wish us luck that I can get his wheelchair through the plane door and get him into his seat easily.  Wish us luck that people aren’t assholes.

Wish us luck the doctors appointment goes well.

Last Meal

Since we’ve been living in Havasu and actually have a real kitchen I’ve been learning to cook, real actual food.  I still buy all organic and grass-fed meat, non-gmo…blah, blah, blah

It’s been fun. But as time as passed we’ve had to start eliminating certain foods.  Well, I think this was the last trip tip meal.  Too much chocking and coughing.  The asparagus was a little too long, the tri tip was a little to hard to chew and the mushrooms were too cheesy.  I knew it was time to really cut things out when he said he couldn’t eat the peanut butter and jelly sugar cookies sandwich cookies.

Here’s to experimenting with new (soft) foods.

It’s Raining, It’s Poring…

Last weekend Travis and Duane decided to go fishing – in the rain.  So this now poses a whole new obstacle…getting Duane in rain gear.  I felt like the mom from A Christmas Story dressing the little boy.  First we put on shorts and a tshirt, then a sweatshirt – double checked twice to see if he had to pee, put socks and shoes on and then the rain overalls.  We laughed through the whole thing trying to maneuver his body into the overalls and rain jacket.  They were finally ready…

When they got to the lake the rain cleared and it was 80 degrees out.  Travis had to get his rain gear off while they were out fishing…they both said Duane is never wearing rain gear again!!  HAHAHAHA

Winner, Winner, Thai Food Dinner

Everyone wanted to go fishing, so Travis and Spencer decided to make it into a nice little tournament.  We divided up and went out in two separate boats.  We had two and a half hours to catch three fish per boat!  Well after a hour Duane and directed every one of Spencer’s casts and we had 4 fish in the boat!!  HUGE fish too.  We kept fishing and Spencer ended up taking 5 bass into “weigh- ins”.  Travis caught two.  As Spencer said, “We beat the wrap off his boat”.  It was a great day that ended with Duane laughing his head off and Travis being pushed in the lake and buying us all Thai food!

Siblings!!

Duane loves it when his siblings are here.  The stories they tell are so funny!  They had so much fun growing up in Vegas, I love hearing about all the trouble they got themselves into!

They went to spring break…again…15 years later!

Duane’s best friend Rhett drove in from Vegas to hang out for the day…Guess where we went…On the boat and under The London Bridge to Spring Break.  Some things never change! I’m so glad they share so many fun, inappropriate memories with each other!
